Kudos Library Department (from citizen) - This place is amazing!! They have a section for everyone, and have an amazing collection! The staff are super helpful, and nice, and general vibe is super chill and welcoming!
Lilly Cifuentes - I was on vacation but had a project out to bid using PlanetBids, a new online bidding platform. In my absence, Lilliana Cifuentes covered the Q & A from the bidders, even though she is not even in my department! Anyone who knows Lilly knows that she is a whiz at learning new technology. She quickly learned how to upload the Q & A and communicated with our Landscape Architect to get the questions answered. Lilly made it possible for me to "unplug" during my vacation for which I am HUGELY grateful. Thank you Lilly for your help and assistance! (Karen Hager)
Library Department - All, Just wanted to express my gratitude for your wonderful curbside pickup service, as well as the book bundles. I have two voracious readers (the third child likes his picture books but can't read yet!) and I only know the old classics, so to be able to get them quality books/series they can try without doing quite so much online research has been a real boon. Thank you!! Karen (community member)
Brian Starelli, Facilities -I'd like to give a shout-out to Brain Starelli for doing such a great job crafting two donation book-drops for the Library. Brian is always a pleasure to work with but these two projects he did especially nice jobs and both done in a very timely manner. These donations are the lifeblood of our programs and events budget and we needed to make for a lost time because of Covid 2020. Brian helped make that happen. (Brad McCulley, City Librarian)
Officer Clark Vineyard - A traffic situation that was resolved due to your officer intervening and deescalating the situation. It was really simple-- communication, including me, was lacking. Your officer arrived, after my request, and handled the situation calmly, and with expertise, I'm sure due to training and experience. My compliments to the entire department. (Citizen)
I wanted to recognize Johnson Woo for going above and beyond to assist Parks & Recreation with the complex keying schedule for the new Community Center. Johnson spent a lot of time and additional effort to assist us with this task which was confusing and overwhelming for Parks & Recreation staff to approach. We greatly appreciate his efforts guiding us through this process and feel he should be recognized for going "above and beyond"! (Karen Hager, Snr Management Analyst)
Greg Shimizu - what a pleasure it was to work with your employee, Greg Shimizu. He carefully prepared the area, planted the tree with care, and left instructions on its watering requirements and care. You know how sometime you are out and someone truly impresses you with their professionalism... that was Greg! With Greg caring for our city's tree, it's no wonder Burlingame is known for our beautiful trees! Bravo Burlingame and its wonderful team of employees!
A big thank you to the Library department for their warm welcome and tour of the Library for the HR Team!
Member of the Public - So appreciative of the work the library has done to keep things going during Covid. I've thoroughly enjoyed being able to check out books and videos with the library. Thank you so much!!
We greatly appreciate Edith's assistance in the recruitment process for the Management Analyst, and the Deputy Director of Public Works Operations positions. She is well organized, and simplifies the recruitment process and makes it easy for the hiring managers. She has been great to work with, and is a great addition to the HR team!
Street Crew Randall Hayes and Creig Smith (from public) - very thorough and polite in making sure residents traversing the area were safe during construction. The end product was also thoughtfully done in making the new bollard foldable for ease of future use and maintenance. He and the yard crews out there did a great job.
Citizen thank you - Parks - Just a Shout Out to say "Thanks!" to the City Crew that took care of managing the weeds along the train tracks north of Oak Grove along California Drive. Your fine work has been noted by City Residents and we thank you.
Citizen thank you - Tree Crew - Where they went above and beyond was a couple of days later when they brought a load of chipper chips that I had asked for to use as ground cover mulch. They obviously had to do extra work by filling the dump truck and then emptying it in a tight pile between the street and sidewalk. It took a bit of manual labor to get it done. I really appreciated their effort, all done with a smile and a happy attitude
Library - from patron - "Thank you! We loved the books from the last bundle! It has been amazing to see my daughter with her nose in a book, voraciously reading!"
Local softball team manager (to Kevin Sanchez) - said Kevin was the most helpful, friendly, and responsive representative of all the agencies she works with. "He's the best" were her words. Well done Kevin – thanks for making Parks & Rec and the City of Burlingame look good.
Doing business with City (Kudos Dispatch) - I just wanted to let you know the gentleman that is answering your phones today is SOOO nice! He was polite and helpful and went out of his way to get my questions answered. I deal with a lot of police departments and most are not nearly as pleasant. It makes me want to visit Burlingame! Also, thank you so much for all of you and your staffs' service.
Citizen kudos (for Meaghan Hassel-Shearer) - I really like the customer friendly nature of your Public Records portal. It's straightforward and intuitive. It's automatic and minimizes efforts transcribing data from both the user and city ends.
Kudos to Margaret Glomstad & Rec staff (from P&R Commissioner) - I am thoroughly impressed with Margaret Glomsted. She is straightforward, solid, and reliable. She gives her staff the freedom to be creative while keeping the show running. The whole Rec staff is great.
